Uniud Media Lab, the University of Udine’s new research, design, training and services laboratory in the field of audiovisual, digital and artificial media, will be inaugurated on Wednesday 10 December. The event will be held at 11 a.m. at Uniud Lab Village (module 14 – Via Sondrio 2, Udine), the integrated and mixed research hub with the companies of the University of Friuli. After the ceremony, there will be a guided tour of the various sections of the laboratory
The Media Lab is part of the University’s Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage. It was created with the support of the Ministry of University and Research, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Fondazione Friuli and the Triveneto ecosystem for innovation Inest. In addition, the laboratory actively collaborates with the Luce Historical Archive – Cinecittà and the University Film Council.
The ceremony will be attended by: for the University of Udine, Rector Angelo Montantari, Director of the Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage Linda Borean, and Scientific Director of Medialab Mariapia Comand; Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Udine Federico Pirone; Vice-President of Fondazione Friuli Guido Nassimbeni and Head of the Studies, Research, Education and Library Office of the Luce Archive Patrizia Cacciani.
The laboratory visit. The Media Lab tour will start from the virtual set designed by Giacomo Vidoni, with installations created by the students of Letizia Monda, lecturer on the degree course in Audiovisual, Media and Performing Arts – DAMS. Simone Dotto will illustrate the research and training initiatives on Virtual Production and artificial intelligence. The cinema room will be presented by Andrea Mariani and Gianandrea Sasso, guides for colour correction interventions. Cosetta Saba and Simone Venturini will lead guests through the spaces of the “Camera Ottica”, the historic laboratory on audiovisual heritage, a leader in the restoration of small formats.
