To study plant growth, development and responses to environmental and climatic changes. This is the objective of Pheno Lab and Pheno Space, the two new plant research facilities at the University of Udine, established within the scientific-technological complex. The former consists of a greenhouse with seven independent compartments and three climate chambers, whilst the latter comprises a high-tech laboratory for measuring the observable characteristics of plants (phenotyping). Situated at the intersection of plant sciences, robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced sensor technology and imaging, these facilities are integrated into a single scientific platform – one of the most comprehensive in the country – thereby strengthening the laboratory and research capabilities of the Department of Agri-Food, Environmental and Animal Sciences. A total of approximately 468,000 euros was invested in the creation of the platform.
