Monitoring coastal ecosystems and exploring archaeological sites using drones, artificial intelligence and robots

During the conference “Knowledge and the Future of Shallow Waters”, organised by the University of Udine in collaboration with the Italian Navy and the Futuri Probabili association, the A-Mare and Nauta projects were presented. To monitor the health of Adriatic coastal ecosystems, which are under threat from global change, in order to contribute to strategies for mitigating these impacts using non-invasive methods, such as drones, sensors and artificial intelligence. Exploring archaeological sites in shallow lagoon and marine environments, such as the coast and lagoon of Grado, using aerial platforms and robotic systems to produce high-precision visual, aerial, underwater and acoustic maps. A study day focusing on shallow waters, with particular emphasis on research into their environmental and archaeological characteristics, their management, conservation and enhancement, and their future potential.
