Regeni: the University joins the “Universities for Giulio” initiative

On Tuesday 26 May at 3 pm, in the auditorium of the University of Udine’s Scientific Library (Via Fausto Schiavi 44, Udine), there will be a special screening of the documentary “Giulio Regeni – Tutto il male del mondo”, produced by Fandango and Ganesh Produzioni. The Rector, Angelo Montanari, will give the opening address. The screening will be followed by a discussion focusing on the themes of freedom of study and research. Speakers will include Gabriele Nissim, historian, essayist, journalist and author of several books on the Holocaust, who is one of the promoters of the European Day of the Righteous and the Day of the Righteous of Humanity.
The event is organised by the University of Friuli as part of the “Universities for Giulio Regeni” initiative. The initiative, promoted by life senator and scientist Elena Cattaneo ten years after the young researcher’s disappearance in Egypt, will involve 76 universities and 15,000 people – including students, researchers, academic staff and members of the public – in two months of meetings, in April and May, and screenings, on the freedom of research.
