Materials Simulations Beyond Borders

In June 2026, ICTP hosted a two-week school that has been among its most attended activities in the past ten years. Supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), the “Joint ICTP-MARVEL College on Materials Simulations in the Age of AI” was attended by about 200 participants of 51 nationalities, figures that are high even for ICTP. The school focused on computational materials science, a field that has grown rapidly over the years.
