Italian Research Vessels Laura Bassi and Gaia Blu gather in Trieste for the 28° ERVO Meeting

The 28th annual ERVO (European Research Vessel Operators) Meeting will be held in Trieste from 8 to 10 June 2026. Organised by the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics -OGS, the event will bring together operators and managers of European research vessel fleets to discuss emerging technologies, future developments in marine research infrastructures, and the key challenges facing the sector. The programme includes plenary sessions, thematic workshops and networking opportunities.

On this occasion, the two main Italian research vessels (R/Vs) will be moored in the city: the icebreaker Laura Bassi, owned and operated by the OGS, and the ship Gaia Blu, run by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). Both vessels will be open to the public free of charge, but visitors must book online in advance.
