From November 5th to 7th, 2025, the IOM Workshop 2025 took place at ICTP in Trieste, bringing together researchers, technologists, and administrative staff of the Istituto Officina dei Materiali (CNR). The workshop provided an important opportunity to share scientific progress, discuss future perspectives, and strengthen collaboration across the Institute’s different locations.
The first day featured institutional greetings from Stefano Fabris (Director DSFTM-CNR), Paolo Fornasiero (Pro-Rector for Research, University of Trieste), Alfonso Franciosi (President & CEO of Elettra Sincrotrone), Salvatore La Rosa (AREA Science Park), Andrea Romanino (Director, SISSA), and Sandro Scandolo (ICTP). A highlight of the workshop was the recognition of Stefano Baroni, SISSA professor and IOM Research Associate, who was awarded the 2026 Rahman Prize for Computational Physics.
In the following days, the workshop combined technical and administrative sessions with scientific presentations, poster sessions, and informal discussions, fostering idea exchange and strengthening internal connections. The social evening and dinner offered participants an opportunity to connect further and build relationships across teams.
Special thanks to ICTP for hosting the workshop in such an inspiring and welcoming environment, supporting dialogue and collaboration among all participants.
