The **NEPHEWS Virtual Training (May 11–12, 2026)** is designed for PhD students and early-career researchers who want to explore the use of synchrotrons, Free Electron Lasers and neutron facilities.
This fully online course provides a practical guide to all stages of an experiment: from shaping a research idea and writing a proposal to data acquisition and analysis.
This third edition includes new content on techniques such as SAXS and XPS (including AP-XPS), along with case studies on quantum materials (ARPES) and high-pressure research at the European XFEL.
The programme also highlights **twinning opportunities**, enabling young researchers to gain direct access to European research infrastructures.
Among the project partners, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste has already hosted several early-career researchers, providing a first hands-on experience with synchrotron-based research.
