The Welcome Office FVG website has been revamped to make arriving and settling in Friuli Venezia Giulia even easier for international students, PhD candidates, researchers and their families.
Welcome Office FVG, an initiative developed within the Scientific and Innovation System of Friuli Venezia Giulia – SiS FVG and managed by Area Science Park, provides information and assistance services to support international mobility and newcomers to the region. The website redesign is part of this ongoing effort to strengthen its services, with the aim of making information even more accessible and easier to find.
The website features a new look and feel, updated content and a more intuitive organisation of information covering the main needs of people moving to the region, from entry and residence procedures and applying for a tax identification number to healthcare access, accommodation, Italian language courses and the recognition of foreign driving licences.
Infographics, video tutorials and a new virtual assistant also help users navigate information and procedures, strengthening the support available both before arrival and throughout their stay in the region.
Welcome Office FVG in numbers
Thanks to the coordinated work of the Trieste and Udine help desks, in the first half of 2026 Welcome Office FVG assisted a total of 440 users: 417 students, PhD candidates, researchers and family members, as well as 23 representatives of public bodies, private organisations and companies involved in welcoming international newcomers.
This work goes hand in hand with stronger cooperation across the region, including weekly meetings with the Immigration Office of the Trieste Police Headquarters dedicated to residence permit procedures.
Services, tools and partnerships that contribute to making Friuli Venezia Giulia an increasingly attractive destination for people choosing to move to the region to study and carry out research.
