On 18 November 2026, the Annual Conference of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Scientific and Innovation System will take place at the Area Science Park Conference Centre in Padriciano, Trieste. The event will focus on “STEP and the New European Industrial Policy: Opportunities for Regional Innovation Ecosystems”.
The conference will explore the European Union’s new industrial policies and competitiveness priorities, with particular attention to the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP), funding instruments, and the role of strategic technologies in the development of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s scientific and industrial sectors. The discussion will feature contributions from experts and representatives of European, national and regional institutions.
The conference will also foster dialogue among institutions, universities, research organisations and businesses, highlighting the region’s scientific expertise and its contribution to strategic industrial value chains, also in view of the 2028–2034 EU programming period.
The event will launch a series of activities continuing in early 2027, with thematic meetings organised in collaboration with regional clusters. These meetings will explore the needs of the industrial sector, encourage new synergies with the research community and support the development of future joint projects.
The full conference programme will be available soon.
