A new study co-authored by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Group Leader of the Translational Bioinformatics Group at ICGEB New Delhi, has recently been published in Cell Surface, titled “AmpC β-lactamases: A key to antibiotic resistance in ESKAPE pathogens”.
In this work, the authors identified 1,790 AmpC enzymes across 4,713 complete genomes, classifying them into nine enzyme groups. Understanding the role of AmpC enzymes is a crucial step toward uncovering the mechanisms behind antibiotic resistance in ESKAPE pathogens and developing more effective antimicrobial strategies.
