SISSA at Trieste Next 2026: exploring vision, optical illusions, neural networks and data science

From 25 to 27 September 2026, SISSA returns to Trieste Next, the Festival of Scientific Research, with a packed programme of talks, discussions and activities.

At the heart of the Festival’s fifteenth edition is The Shape of Thought: Interactions between Brains and Intelligences: a journey from the human brain to artificial intelligence, exploring perception and neural networks, as well as the ways in which we learn, think and imagine.

SISSA researchers will take part in a wide range of events addressing some of the key questions in contemporary research, from how the brain works to artificial intelligence, and from data and knowledge to emerging technologies.

At the SISSA stand in Piazza Unità, visitors of all ages will also have the chance to explore optical illusions, vision, neural networks and data science first-hand through a range of interactive activities.

The SISSA programme will also be part of the European Researchers’ Night, alongside activities specifically designed for schools.
