Objective:

Creation of a “Scientific network of excellence” in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region among universities, public research bodies and international research bodies to reinforce the capacity for action, attractiveness and competitiveness at a national and international level of the institutions

Activities:

Support for the development of international agreements, cooperation agreements and projects in the sectors of research and innovation, which involve the institutions belonging to the scientific network of excellence, first of all inside the strategy areas of the European Union for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) and of the European Union Strategy for the Adriatic - Ionian Region (EUSAIR)

Actions:

From a strategic perspective to enhance collaboration at the European and international level regarding research, innovation and technological transfer, the Regional Administration continues with implementation of the Agreement (MoU) signed in 2017, which has a five-year duration, with the DG - Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, supporting European policies, contributing to the decision-making process through research and scientific investigation. The Agreement is a framework tool enabling the promotion and facilitation of further operational agreements between institutions belonging to the regional Scientific and Innovation System and the JRC for the development of joint initiatives that also bring benefits for the region.
Specifically, in line with the previous programme, project activities set out in the Agreement that comes to an end in 2022 continue, whilst at the same time a new renewed tool for collaboration is defined with the JRC through a specific Letter of Intent (LoI), with a wide range of actions to promote regional scientific institutions, in a strategic approach to strengthen collaboration at the European and international level regarding research, innovation and technological transfer, to the benefit of the regional research and innovation system.
